The Moonlight - 2002 Report & Results

The Bowmen of Malgrave Moonlight shoot took place on Saturday 28th September. The weather was remarkably good yet again. No full moon this year, but there is only so much that we can control.

Mr President, Chris Bushell got things under way with judge Robin Frost and Lady Paramount, Christine Glass. With nearly 80 archers registered and 70 on the night it promised to be a good shoot.

Two additional items to the proceedings caused more than a stir. The sale of T-shirts printed for the occasion with moonlight logos and a hooting owl all courtesy of the Dockerill and Walker family. The T-shirts went like hot cakes so if anybody was disappointed get in touch as we can always produce more. The owl had a motion sensor that when activated hooted - well it was a sort of bronchial moan really, but it looked the part.

The general standard of shooting was very good this year. Having got the helpers fired up with enthusiasm, torches and a keen eye I think Harry, one of our newer members, was quite disappointed that there were so few lost arrows! A big thank you to Robin Frost for keeping the shoot in order, especially since he was suffering from a rotten cold - hope the Scotch came in handy.

Carl Merry did his usual sterling job on the barbeque keeping everybody supplied with burgers and we had a number of helpers dispensing tea and coffee.

Full results are given below. Apologies for the little hiccup over the married couples prize - Sheila and Ron Romain were surprised to discover that they had divorced without knowing! Congratulations to all medal winners and raffle prize winners especially the lady who persuaded our President to part with the owl! "Well she said that she collects them." he said - well guess what Mr President, I collect BMWs!

See you all next year!
